detransition, transphobia

I'll say this much: The transphobia fundamentally involved in "detransition discourse" (which is about transphobia, not about the very real people with very real stories who detransition), has been a huge blocker for me at times in exploring the actual depth of my own gender expression and perception.

Detransition, transition-to-one-end-then-bounce-back-to-the-middle, and all sorts of other stories need to be **normalized** as the very natural part of the overall story of transition. Making these moves is not difficult because it's fundamentally difficult to "go back" or "undo" things. It's fundamentally difficult because we have made it a taboo. And that's on the trans community itself, too, which has until somewhat recently focused SO HARD on hard binary transitions, leaving those of us with more complex stories with a very limited (binary) selection of paths to take for ourselves.

Just a thought, as I think about and get more comfortable examining my own relationship to womanhood (and manhood, for that matter), and what real changes that might entail for me going forward.

(p.s. if you're on Twitter, feel free to respond to this in the thread over there. I'd love to hear people's thoughts on this)

To all queer #videomakers! We make live visuals and we're looking for queer-themed video footage to play with.

Get in touch with us if you'd like your videos to be remixed and featured in our livestreamings!

Check out our profile or reply here for more details.

Please boost or -even better- forward to specific people and creators who may be interested.

Fediverse, we're looking for other creative people / artists who are into making live visuals, videos or animations. Please help us to connect with them!

Feel free to boost this if you know your followers are into this kind of creations/art, or please point us to their own accounts.

We Pixelflowers make colorful, psychedelic, glitchy live visuals - usually as a "video track" for electronic and techno music.
We use a laptop for loops, and other old-school equipment and techniques: camera feedback, old video mixers, analog video synthesizers.

We're looking for artists to connect with, and for moving imagery to play with.
For example, we could create processed/glitched versions of your videos/animations; we'd provide you with them (to reuse as you may wish) and we'd include them in our shows.

We're queer, NSFW-friendly and pro-social-justice - just so you know ;)

If you'd like to collaborate get in touch!

FCKXMS is out NOW!

Ten local electronic artists have sent us ten exclusive songs, celebrating this special time and this special occasion: the time of laughter and despair, the gifts and discounts, the unavoidable consumerism and devastating trickle-down economics. Let’s scream together as Richy Rich gets a little richer again, while we’re hopelessly waiting for the Looney Toons sign “That’s all, folks”.

I’ve been thinking a lot about various creative reactions to the absurdity that we all carry supercomputers in our pocket but have to keep upgrading even to retain functionality because software gets worse and surveillance gets more pervasive

Things like low-power computing (Rpi and friends, microcomputers, retro computing, etc), some of the solarpunk stuff, the “smolnet” (Gopher and Gemini and the like), and so on seem to be interesting ways of highlighting that things could be other than they are

Is there an umbrella term for this? Is someone collecting projects that relate to “computing designed to work well even with low-performance/low-power gear”?

"Aesthetigenders, also known as aesthetgenders, aesthetegenders, or videgenders, are a series of non-binary xenogenders that are either derived from, are the embodiment of, are similar to, related to, or share the qualities with an aesthetic or a sensory experience. Aesthetigenders can be based on symbols, ideas, or things. And are typically described using things like texture, size, shape, light, sound, or other sensory characteristics."

I'm still here.

"I figured some of you might be wondering why I suddenly decided to start producing this kind of content (whether you prefer to call it erotic art or just whoring out). The answer is simple, I like it. I love eroticism and nudity. I've learned to appreciate my body and I enjoy sexualizing it on my own terms. I'm exploring my sexuality and identity. If you think I'm just a regular e-thot desperately trying to intelectualize being an e-thot, it's okay. I enjoy being an e-thot, too. I've always wanted to show off my sexual side and I don't see the reason why I shouldn't use it or profit from it. I'm happy to be in control of my own body, especially since it has not always been the case."

"... critical interpretations depend on the precise context of a glitch's generation/use. This 'break' results from a violation of established (anticipated) structures within the work—an unanticipated variance from the audience's expectations: the necessary factor in this process is an actively engaged audience that is challenging the work as it proceeds and whose violated expectations produce the glitch. There is no formalist mode that can present an inherently critical meaning—the emergence of a specifically critical meaning depends on active choices made by the audience encountering the work, not the formal design of that work."
